Six main types of material go into MOCAP products.

From caps and plugs to grips and more, MOCAP is known for its unparalleled selection of protective items. High quality is one of the company’s top priorities, and one way MOCAP makes its products great is by sourcing only the best materials available to make them. In order to suit a diverse range of applications, MOCAP chooses from a healthy variety of materials, from rubber and vinyl to paper.

Six basic types of material

MOCAP uses six basic types of material to construct its impressive range of protective items. Customers are free to choose any product based on the materials used to manufacture it, to meet their individual requirements. These materials are as follows:

  • Plastic – Standard plastic plugs and caps are made out of low-density polyethylene, or LDPE, but MOCAP also offers such materials as plastic injection molding of polypropylene (PP), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), nylon, thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), and virtually any thermoplastic resin.
  • Rubber – Rubber caps, plugs, and tubes are typically constructed out of molded and extruded silicone and ethylene propylene diene monomer materials, although there are other options, like natural, Nitrile, SBR, and other thermoset rubber materials.
  • Flexible vinyl – MOCAP can supply a wide range of flexible vinyl (PVC) caps, plugs, grips, and covers. Also available are custom dip-molded protective items made in any requested colour, hardness, or texture.
  • Paper – Natural paper is used to construct straight caps, tapered plugs, and other similar caps and plugs. MOCAP uses natural paper that is tough yet flexible, and it is also recyclable and environmentally sound. In addition, this paper can withstand temperatures as high as 200 degrees Celsius.
  • Extruded silicone rubber – MOCAP uses high-end silicone compounds to make extruded silicone rubber units. Two key examples are silicone tubing and self-bonding silicone X-Treme Tape.
  • Extruded plastic – To manufacture extruded plastic tubes, MOCAP uses polyethylene terephthalate glycol, which is typically used for unique product packaging that stands out.

A material specification sheet is available on the MOCAP website, detailing the hardness, strengths, elongations, and insulation of different materials that the company uses.
