Millwork shop sees significant savings with new dispensing solution

The right solution

A customer from a high-end kitchen and millwork shop in Ontario was looking for an efficient and cost-effective solution to apply urethane primers; one that would help it achieve the smooth, uniform finish the primers are known for. The goal was to decrease sanding time and control the four-hour pot life of the urethane primer. 

The company was already using a Kremlin Rexson Cyclomix Micro to apply post catalyzed materials, and the owner thought he would need to purchase an additional Cyclomix Micro to apply the primer. However, he wasn’t ready to make that investment. Exel Canada’s regional manager, Paul Kelly, introduced him to the PU3000 Electro Mechanical System, a reliable, two-component machine from Kremlin Rexson. 

The PU3000 monitored the pot life and enabled mixing on demand. The result: the owner was able to use a coating that cut sanding labour time by 35 per cent. 

The real savings was in sanding hours saved. The company estimated this to be $60 a day. Calculating that over 250 working days results in $15,000 in savings a year. In addition, the solution allowed the company to increase primer production by 12 per cent per year, which resulted in $10,000 of savings. In total, the company was able to save $25,000 a year.
