Mezzanines increase space and save money for many companies

The company designed a structural steel mezzanine to house and protect robotic equipment above the production floor for one customer. A clear span of 14 feet wide by 40 feet long offers minimal column interference below. The mezzanine was pre-assembled at Excess Space Solutions’ factory and delivered to the customer as a two-piece unit. Extension columns, sway braces, stairs and railings were pre-manufactured and simply bolted together on site. 

Another example is a 50 foot by 80 foot structural steel mezzanine designed for the storage of printing die components. An elevating lift was installed to assist in transportation of the dies to and from the second level. 

Another customer — an automotive dealership — had limited space available for expansion, but required storage. A structural steel mezzanine was the perfect cost-efficient solution. Excess Space Solutions installed a mezzanine in the automotive dealership to increase the parts department storage area. 

One customer was able to use a mezzanine for the storage of machinery, since its heavy-duty checker plate floor is rated for 250 lbs/psf. To maximize the use of the available floor space in this application, an access ladder was installed instead of the standard stair and landing assembly.

One last example: A structural steel mezzanine was installed in a retail clothing store. Custom lighting was also installed above and below the mezzanine to maintain the clean and bright sales floor appearance. The customer was able to enlarge the sales display area without increasing the amount of property lease costs.
