Matritech has served as a premier manufacturer of machine components since 1989.

2019 is a milestone year for Matritech Inc. The company is observing three decades of success as a premier manufacturer of industrial machine components. With such high-profile customers as Bombardier and CVTech-IBC, Matritech has proved itself to be the perfect one-stop shop for all kinds of machining services.

But Matritech’s stellar reputation did not spring from a vacuum. It came from 30 years of growth, expansion, and constant self-improvement.

From humble origins to success

The Matritech story began in 1989, when the company was launched in a 3,200-square-foot facility. While it initially focused on die design and fabrication, it expanded its capabilities over the next three years in the progressive-die sector, serving such corporations as General Motors and Inglis.

In 1992, Matritech enlarged its site and acquired a complete press system, a feeder-straightener-decoiler. Two years later, the 19-member company moved into a new factory in Drummondville, Que. and broadened its abilities by purchasing metal stamping equipment wire electric discharge machines.

Matritech continued to grow over time: buying a CNC punching machine in 1997; enlarging its facility to 32,000 square feet in 1998; acquire a laser punching machine in 1999; and introducing robotic welding in 2003. By the beginning of the 21st Century, the company was employing 70 people producing industrial machine components.

The investment into state-of-the-art machining technology continued. In 2006, Matritech acquired an automatic press, and the following year, it purchased a new welding robot with an automatic rotating table, combined with pulsed-arc welding technology. 2009 saw the installation of a laser, including an integrated automatic loading system with 36 storage drawers. A third welding robot arrived in 2011, followed by two CNC bending presses in 2012, a robotic bending cell in 2014, and a horizontal machining centre with two pallet changers in 2015.

And the expansion never ceases. Today, Matritech’s facility totals 85,000 square feet, and the company has invested more than $15 million into fixed assets. For a glimpse of what Matritech can accomplish in industrial machine components, watch this video:
