Durham Instruments is proud to carry the RCT1000 Coriolis mass flow meter from Badger Meter, a leading manufacturer of mechanical and electrical flow metering technologies. Badger’s RCT1000 has earned a reputation for measuring mass flow and density of fluids with high accuracy over a wide range of process temperatures.

A versatile system

The RCT1000 Coriolis mass flow meter identifies flow rate by directly measuring mass flow and density. It can also measure temperatures from -40 to 200 degrees C (-40 to 392 degrees F). Its unobstructed, open flow design makes it suitable for working with a variety of fluids, including vegetable oils and fats, homogeneous suspensions and slurries, coatings and hardeners, adhesives, glues or binding materials, and dyes, fragrances, vitamins and other additives. It can even work with nonconductive fluids that are difficult to measure with other technologies.

For homogeneous fluids consisting of two components, the system has the capability to derive the concentration and mass of each component based on fluid properties and density measurement.

How it works

As fluid flows through the vibrating sensor tube, forces induced by the flow cause the tube to twist slightly. Carefully placed sensors are able to measure these small deflections. In addition, a phase shift occurs between sensor signals that is directly proportional to mass flow rate. Then, as the fluid density varies, the resonant vibration frequency changes, and the sensors measure this, too. Lastly, an internal RTD measures temperature to calculate thermal effects on the tube vibrating frequency.

System advantages

The vibrating tube has no internal moving parts and, therefore, little impact on mechanical wear. This results in a longer service life and fewer repairs than other flow technologies. In addition, RCT1000 offers accuracy, reliability, an open flow path, flexible integration options and advanced fluid diagnostic software.
