acoustic sensors

Brüel & Kjær acoustic sensors come in many models.

Durham Instruments continues to serve Canadian industry with one of the widest ranges of test and measurement tools on the market. This includes a broad selection of instrumentation manufactured by Brüel & Kjær, a multinational engineering and electronics company headquartered near Copenhagen, Denmark. The Brüel & Kjær lineup offers dozens of models of acoustic sensors, in 11 categories ranging from acoustical arrays and acoustic calibrators to electroacoustic accessories and more.

High-fidelity measurement and transmission

These acoustic sensors are used to measure and transmit sound and vibration with high fidelity. Whatever an operation requires – dynamic microphones, pre-amplifiers/conditioners, integrated sound-level meters – an enormous lineup is available to improve any individual application.

The following categories of acoustic sensors are available from Durham Instruments:

  • Acoustical arrays. For rapidly producing detailed noise maps of types of noise sources. Selection ranges from small, two-microphone units to arrays with hundreds of microphones.
  • Acoustic calibrators. Sound-intensity calibrators, multi-function acoustic calibrators, piston phones, hydrophone calibrators, and sound calibrators.
  • Acoustic material testing kits. Transmission loss and impedance tube kits, portable impedance meters, and road-surface absorption measurement systems.
  • Ear and mouth simulators. Artificial ear/ear simulators, including ones with microphones and pre-amplifiers, and ear simulators with telephonometry.
  • Head and torso simulators. High-frequency and sound-quality options available, as well as symmetrical pinnas and pinnas with tapered ear canals.
  • Microphone and pre-amplifier combinations. An enormous range of options, from pressure-field microphones to weatherproof omnidirectional devices.
  • Microphone cartridges. Another broad selection of options available – pressure-field, free-field, and Infrasound microphones.
  • Microphone pre-amplifiers. High-temperature models available, as well as one-, ½-, and ¼-inch sizes.
  • Sound-intensity probe kits. The 3599 model is specially designed for use with Brüel & Kjær sound-intensity analyzers, while the 3654 is designed for use with handheld sound-intensity system Type 2270.
  • Sound sources. Eight options available here, from power amplifiers to velocity adapters.
  • Electroacoustics accessories. Anechoic test boxes, telephone test heads, handset positioners, turntable systems, and car-seat fixtures and heavy-duty tripods for head and torso simulators.

Whatever acoustic sensing need a customer may have, Durham Instruments can satisfy it.
