ELS cranes create safer, more efficient workplaces.

Engineered Lifting Systems & Equipment Inc. (ELS) always has the right lifting solution to make difficult jobs seem easy, regardless of the application or industry. A manufacturer of plastic-injection-moulded parts in the automotive sector needed a better option for pushing a gantry crane across the shop floor – a task that caused severe physical strain. ELS solved the client’s challenge with a Gorbel freestanding workstation crane.

A more efficient process

This company was tasked with moving plastic injection moulds, which weighed more than 2,000 pounds. The employees had to pick the moulds up with a steel gantry crane and then walk the mould and crane together onto a maintenance table. This process resulted in physical strain for the workers.

For a safer, more efficient solution, the employer contacted ELS. ELS recommended a Gorbel freestanding workstation crane. ELS is an authorized dealer and distributor for Gorbel, which has manufactured material handling equipment for many industrial markets for more than 30 years.

These workstation bridge cranes can handle up to 4,000 pounds. They have a modular design that allows for easy expansion or relocation. They also boost productivity by an average of 28 per cent and help to contribute to safer workplaces.

The results from the Gorbel freestanding crane installation were apparent immediately. The workers could now roll the mould cart into the maintenance work area, pick the mould off the cart by moving the bridge of the crane into position, and put the mould directly onto the table.

“The mould maintenance process is a lot more efficient now,” said a representative of the company.

Most importantly, the ergonomic strain was gone from the process, making it much safer.

“The guys all love the new crane.”
