Make visual inspections of hard-to-reach areas with Lenox borescopes

Borescopes can enable visual inspection of areas that would otherwise be inaccessible, without the need for dismounting equipment. They are used for a wide range of applications, such as inspecting engines, gas and steam turbines, and machined or cast parts.

Thermo-Kinetics can supply borescopes to meet any need. These products are made by Lenox Instrument Company, which has been manufacturing high-quality borescopes since 1920. The selection includes products that can provide true-colour images for viewing through an eyepiece, digital recording or remote monitor.

Many types of borescopes are available.

• Videoscopes can enter openings as small as 5.3 millimetres, and inspect lengths up to 98 feet. They provide images to a high-resolution monitor and are ideal for inspecting inside tubing, piping, boilers, turbines and more. They can be used to check seams, joints, welds, deposits, debris, corrosion, blockages and loose parts. These videoscopes use advanced CCD chip video processor technology and allow digital image recording for documentation and analysis. They are available in models that have direct viewing heads with a field of view up to 120 degrees.
• Swing-Prism borescopes enable the viewing of large areas quickly using a single instrument. Compared to most borescopes that provide a fixed field of view, the Swing-Prism enables viewing all around the scope without changing positions. It offers viewing in 370 degrees circumferentially and 120 degrees longitudinally. This capability makes the Swing-Prism ideal for inspecting cavities such as combustion chambers. It allows inspection in applications that would typically require three different scopes (right angle, forward oblique and retrospective.)
• Micro borescopes can fit into even the smallest openings, such as hypodermic needle tubing. They are available with diameters as small as 0.5 millimetres and lengths up to 600 inches. These borescopes are available in both flexible and semi-rigid varieties. They can provide clear and bright images from within miniature electronic assemblies and tiny vent holes in turbine blades.

A variety of other borescopes are available, as well as a range of accessories. These include protective shrouds and a radiation-hardened lens for environmental protection, recording systems and adapters, and light sources, such as ultraviolet and explosion-proof varieties.
