Liquiphant FTL51B by Endress+Hauser brings point-level detectors up a notch

The next-generation Liquiphant FTL51B from Endress+Hauser is ready for Industry 4.0. It adds a mobile communication capability that can greatly simplify maintenance inspection, as well as safety monitoring, and even optimize process efficiency.

Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. has welcomed a new member to its Liquiphant family of point-level detectors: the FTL51B. This device is available in a wide spectrum of variants designed to comply with Industry 4.0. Its benefits include a mobile communication capability that simplifies maintenance inspection and safety monitoring while optimizing efficiency.

This upgrade to Endress+Hauser’s Liquiphant FTL51 for liquid measurement in storage tanks and pipelines brings point-level detection to a new level.

24/7 onsite access to information

The FTL51B enables operators to communicate with it via Endress+Hauser’s own SmartBlue App, based on Bluetooth wireless technology. This app allows 24/7 onsite access to all product and diagnostic information, like manuals or certificates. Available for iOS and Android mobile devices, this digital communications ability speeds up inspections in hard-to-reach areas where scaffolding is often necessary to enable workers to read data on the device display. Users can receive the same data from a safe, convenient location within 20 metres of the instrument.

NAMUR, the world’s leading association for automation technology and digitization in process industries, requires process sensors for the Industrial Internet of Things environment to have a mobile communication means and to provide data for preventive maintenance and process optimization. FTL51B point-level detectors display the status of the level switch through ultra-bright LEDs or via SmartBlue. Through Heartbeat Technology, verification allows full documentation without process interruption, and the app’s SIL Wizard guides users through the periodic proof test necessary for SIL2 and SIL3 applications.

The Liquiphant series of point-level detectors has earned a reputation as among the most reliable instruments of their kind, and the FTL51B goes beyond the limits of the previous models. Changing media properties, flow, turbulence, gas bubbles, foam, vibrations, and buildup do not affect Liquiphant measurements, and the FTL51B Endress+Hauser has developed this device according to IEC 61508 and the “Safety by Design” principle, as well as the explosion standards for SIL2 and SIL3 applications.
