Another world first from Endress+Hauser! The Liquitrend QMW43 provides continuous product buildup data to shorten cleaning cycles.

Endress+Hauser Canada Ltd. has introduced the Liquidtrend QMW43 measuring instrument: a world first, designed to provide continuous product buildup data to reduce cleaning cycles to the minimum amount necessary to do a thorough job, while ensuring constant product quality for both users and consumers. This flush-mounted, stainless steel device offers constant evaluation of liquid or pastry media in tanks and pipelines with both conductive and capacitive measuring signals. Users get reliable measurement of the product buildup thickness.

Reduction of unproductive downtime

Cleaning time creates downtime, and Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) cycles for eliminating product buildup in food-processing operations often run too long. Opening tanks and pipelines can expose interiors to bacterial penetration; this is why most operators prefer CIP, or automated cleaning in the closed state. To clean tanks and pipelines sufficiently, users must evaluate and document the conductivity and turbidity values of the CIP return flow. Often, this extends the duration of cleaning, based on the responsive data. The Liquidtrend QMW43 helps to minimize this downtime.

The plant operator knows if buildup is still adhering to pipelines or tanks, and how strong it is, by evaluating the measurement signals of this measuring instrument. The extra conductivity measurement also offers data about the cause of the buildup – in other words, whether it comes from product residue or cleaning agents. If the QMW43 shows no more buildup or conductivity, the user can conclude that the the system has been cleaned fully. This way, facilities gain valuable production time without losing the certainty of bringing flawless products to the market.

Another advantage of this measuring instrument by Endress+Hauser: it reduces the lab time that involves ensuring quality in product appearance, smell, taste, consistency, and shelf life. In the control system, users can set limits to identify and reject qualitatively differing products immediately. This way, laboratory measurements can be reduced without compromising process reliability or quality. Users can also monitor and optimize processes like blending and product changeover.
