Liquid coating offers corrosion protection and simple application

Denso North America carries a wide selection of protective liquid coatings, and several can be applied by hand to minimally prepared surfaces. Denso Bitumen Mastic, for example, is a high build, single component, cold-applied liquid bituminous coating used to protect buried pipe, flanges, valves and underground storage tanks from corrosion. Its easy application makes it a top choice for many anti-corrosion applications where only minimum surface prep can be done.

 

 

Denso Bitumen Mastic is applied by hand using a soft bristle brush or low nap roller. No primer is required, as the user simply has to prepare surfaces by removing all loose scale, rust or other foreign matter in accordance to SSC-SP2 “Hand Tool Cleaning” or SP3 “Power Tool Cleaning”. A high pressure water wash of 3,000 to 7,000 psi (20.68 – 48.26 MPa) is also suitable. If the substrate is severely corroded, an SSPC-SP6 commercial blast cleaning should be used to prep the surface. Once the surface is clean, the single component product should be mixed thoroughly before application. Product is touch dry in about two hours.

 

 

Denso Bitumen Mastic is resistant to salts, alkalies and water. It is VOC compliant, and has an in-service temperature range from -51 to 163 degrees C (-60 to 325 degrees F). It is available in one- and five-gallon containers.
