LDS shakers

Various models of shakers and exciters are available.

Durham Instruments supplies a wide range of Brüel & Kjær industrial test and measurement solutions in Canada. This includes an unsurpassed selection of shakers, which fall under the manufacturer’s exclusive LDS brand. Through the supplier, businesses have access to LDS shakers with high, low, or medium force, in addition to five permanent-magnet models. Brüel & Kjær also produces several kinds of amplifiers, expanders, and thermal barriers to work with these shakers.

Different models for different payloads

The following categories of Brüel & Kjær shakers are available:

  • High force – air- or water-cooled electrodynamic LDS shakers, for payloads as high as 2,000 or 5,000 kilograms (kg).
  • Low force – air-cooled electrodynamic LDS shakers for vibration testing. The V555 can handle payloads of up to 25 kg, such as automobile and aircraft components. The V650 can go up to 50 kg, which encompasses aircraft instrumentation. The V721 can do small or medium-sized payloads up to 100 kg, like computer equipment, and the V780 works for vibration and shock testing up to 100 kg, including aviation instruments, satellite components, and automobile parts.
  • Medium force – five types of air-cooled electrodynamic shakers for vibration and mechanical shock testing. The V8 can handle payloads of up to 700 kg, including complete battery assemblies for hybrid vehicles. The V830 can support up to 160 kg of medium-sized articles, the V850 can do up to 350 kg, the V875 can handle up to 600 kg (including military hardware), and the V875LS also goes up to 600 kg and works for rocket and satellite components.
  • Permanent magnet – five designs of electromagnetic shakers from Durham Instruments. The V101 works for vibration screening of very small components and assemblies, plus modal and structural analyses and other types of bench-top testing. The V201 works for fatigue and resonance testing, modal and structural analyses, and vibration screening of small components. The V406, V450, and V455 are suitable for testing small components; the V406 works for laboratory experiments, the V450 for fatigue and resonance tests, and the V455 for vibration testing of electronics.
