A few years ago, the Tsubaki team improved its unique Large Pitch leaf chain series; thanks to extensive research and development, these chains now have longer operational lifespans than the previous Large Pitch models had.

Now, the Large Pitch series withstand the heaviest demands of many lifting tasks. These drive chains also have better wear resistance, in compliance with ASME and ANSI standards.

Three Large Pitch models available

This leaf chain line achieves high performance with its secure, heavy-duty design that combines select-quality alloy steel, heat treatment, precise manufacturing tolerances, special plate and pin treatments, and pitch compensation. Tsubaki carries the following three types of Large Pitch leaf chains:

• Standard – Thanks to expert technology and production, this leaf chain lasts for a long time, even under heavy loads.
• Extended Life – With special treatment of critical components, this can last up to twice as long as the Standard. Plates coated with black oxide for lubricity and moderate corrosion protection in outdoor applications.
• Ultra Life – The peak of wear performance, this one lasts four times as long as the Standard, due to advanced technology and manufacturing processes. Advanced plate coating contributes to higher corrosion resistance and longer life.

Innovative pin technology is another major benefit of the Large Pitch series. For maximum tensile and fatigue strength, plus top wear, abrasion, and galling resistance, pins are made from case-hardened chrome-moly ally steel. They are also ground accurately to precise diameter specifications after heat treatment.

The Tsubaki crew precision-stamps all plates through hardened alloy steel and shot-peens them for high tensile strength and maximum resistance to shock and fatigue. Inside and outside plates are both designed and built for maximum tensile strength and fatigue resistance. Tsubaki also treats all Large Pitch chains with a unique pre-lubrication process; this involves immersion of chains in a hot soak tank to ensure sufficient penetration deep into the critical pin-plate contact bearing areas.
