Lapp cables save customer time and money

A world leading manufacturer of thin wall tube mills and related equipment, such as welded, folded and lock seam tubing, was looking for a connectivity solution that would allow its automated tube bending and forming machines to be plug-and-play. Because the machines were being shipped to Europe, the company required a solution that would eliminate the possibility for miss-wiring at the final destination. This plug-and-play capability would eliminate the need for the customer to send a technician to the job site, saving time and money.

The company selected Lapp’s EPIC rectangular connectors, which offer 11 different contact insert types and two housing series sizes to handle application requirements up to 1,000 volts, 82 amps and from three to 280 contacts. Rugged aluminum alloy enclosures provide environmental protection ratings of IP65, NEMA 4 and 12. All rectangular connector products are UL (E75770) and CSA (LR53004-1) listed. In addition, they are intermateable and compatible with most equivalent DIN-type rectangular connectors. 

By using rectangular connectors, Lapp’s customer can set up the machine and run it at its facility. When it sees the machine is running properly, the company can disconnect the connectors and ship the machinery. This eliminates the possibility of miss-wiring at the final destination. By using industrial grade connection, the customer can fully test the machine on its floor instead of shipping it to Europe and trying to de-bug the machine from its facility in the U.S., or paying for someone to go to the job site.
