Filtration products by LAKOS are highly recommended for the oil and gas industry.

John Brooks Company Limited carries an unsurpassed selection of fluid-handling products from a wide range of manufacturers, including LAKOS Filtration Solutions. LAKOS’ portfolio includes filtration equipment that is ideal for use in the oil and gas sector, in which unwanted solids must be removed from liquids to maintain effective operating systems.

From primary filtration to downhole pump protection, the oil and gas industry successfully uses LAKOS solutions in many common scenarios to separate solids from water and other fluids.

For upstream and downstream applications

Oil and gas operations are usually divided into two categories: upstream and downstream applications. Examples of upstream applications include exploration, development, drilling, production, gathering, treating, disposal, pipelines, and transportation, while downstream applications comprise storage, refining, gas processing, petrochemicals, distribution, and retail marketing. LAKOS products from John Brooks Company work for both groups.

LAKOS options are recommended for virtually all stages in the oil and gas production process. For example, workers remove sand from produced water before reinjection or disposal, protect oil-water hydro cyclones, and reduce sand accumulation in FWKO tanks and heater-treaters with LAKOS’ assistance. In primary filtration, LAKOS separators apply pre-filtration to bag filters, media filters, and cartridge filters for produced water and the intake water supply.

In secondary recovery, LAKOS desanders are recommended for use in waterflood injection and to protect finer filters and high-pressure pumps while protecting formations; the solids purge moves through the unit before reaching the injection pump station. The LAKOS desander also assists with solids-buildup prevention by protecting treating facilities: it takes the material into a FWKO/production separator, which transports it into a heater-treater, surge tank, and skim tank.

Finally, the LAKOS desander is crucial to downhole pump protection, in which it removes sand from production liquids before it enters a downhole pump, thereby prolonging the pump’s running life and efficiency. Sandy production fluid is drawn in through tangential inlet slots into the separation chamber; then the desander centrifugally separates the sand from the liquid and tosses it into the chamber perimeter. The sand particles fall downwards to the bottom of the separator.
