A vast facility for storage

With its 50,000-square-foot facility in north Toronto, L. & M. owns more than enough space for production, storage, management, and shipment preparation of custom machined precision parts. A client can order a large volume of products in advance, and the order is taken in releases over a period of one year; the pricing remains locked-in for the entire order, and L. & M. creates a release schedule – weekly, monthly, or custom-designed – to meet customer needs on a regular basis.

The process of getting custom machined precision parts to clients has three basic stages: engineering, inventory management, and shipping. First, customers work with L. & M.’s licenced engineers, who have more than 60 years’ combined experience and offer the right engineering support to produce components that meet customers’ exact requirements. With specialized engineering and estimating software programs at their disposal, these engineers can use their expertise to suggest ways to improve functionality or lower costs.

Next, L. & M. uses its E2 shop system, a computerized inventory-control system, to manufacture and store a client’s product requirements for an entire year. With the company’s vast amount of space for producing and storing these goods, the client can feel assured that L. & M. has everything under control for the long term.

After parts are produced, the L. & M. team washes and packages them. They are also inspected to make sure they meet the company’s high standards of quality. Products that are required immediately are shipped to clients without delay, while others are entered into the inventory-control system for onsite storage.
