The broad range of machining equipment at L. & M.

L. & M. Precision Products Inc. is a top Canadian screw-machine jobbing shop, and it relies on a diverse selection of equipment to meet custom-machining requirements for a broad client base. With its mix of CNC, single-spindle, multi-spindle, and multi-station production machinery, this extensive capability range satisfies an unsurpassed range of customer needs.

To tackle every product successfully, L. & M. has all it requires – including myriad first- and secondary-operation equipment.

An efficient, cost-effective process

The facility holds an extensive collection of this equipment, which keeps expanding and updating as L. & M. invests in new machines. Another major factor is trained personnel with expertise in these machines – to operate them, but also to maintain and repair them. Equipment is always in top condition; any machine that is not working properly is repaired or replaced with high priority. There are two definitions of screw-machine equipment owned by L. & M.:

  • First-operation screw machines – more than 80 machines that handle large- or small-volume orders of parts, regardless of complexity. Among the examples: an extensive group of CNC machines with “Y”-axis capability and capacities as high as 60 millimetres; Davenport and Wickham multi-spindle equipment, some with Cucchi bar loaders, with capacities of up to 1¾ inches; rotary-transfer Hydromat equipment with capacities up to 45 millimetres, and single-spindle Brown and Sharpe equipment, some with Servocam capability, with capacities up to 2-3/8 inches.
  • Secondary-operation machines – This equipment performs secondary operations like machining, milling, assembly, drilling, tapping, and broaching, plus centreless and plunge grinding. Examples: Cincinnati and Royal Master centreless grinders; Brown and Sharpe single-spindle, secondary-operation automatic screw machines; and various vertical machining centres.

This diversity of equipment helps the L. & M. crew make almost any custom components through an efficient and cost-effective process. The company can manufacture parts for customers in many applications, like welding parts and assemblies, display connectors, fittings, screws and bushings, valve assemblies, and other complex components for a wide variety of assemblies. Customers buy these components for use in industries like welding, appliances, healthcare, plumbing, oil and gas, electronics, display, and the automotive sector. L. & M. satisfies any requirement with unmatched efficiency and quality.
