For more than 60 years, L. & M. Precision Products Inc. has cemented its reputation as a leading Canadian screw-machine jobbing shop. The company owes much of its success to an exceptionally talented crew of experienced machinists, who provide ample expertise in producing components for virtually all industries, going beyond the needs for customer satisfaction. What sets L. & M. apart is that it is 100 per cent owned and operated by its employees, most of whom have been with the company for more than two decades.

Five departments working together

This team of skilled machinists provides a rare level of dedication and experience that results in consistently superior precision-machined parts. The following five departments make up the company:

• Head-office management and engineering. This group of professionals uses its combined expertise to ensure that the company quotes, produces, and ships top-quality components that meet customer specifications. Inside-sales and customer-service reps provide support and timely responses. Four professional licenced engineers offer helpful analysis in every project, including design advice to boost functionality or reduce costs.
• First operations. These are highly skilled machinists and operators who have the experience and knowledge to operate key equipment, including CNC machinery and single-spindle Brown & Sharpe or multi-spindle Wickman and Davenport equipment, plus multi-station Hydromat machines.
• Secondary operations. A fully equipped department with detail-oriented operators and setup experts that complete machining operations on parts and assemblies according to customer requirements. Experts in milling, assembly, drilling, tapping, broaching, centreless and plunge grinding, and thread rolling.
• Quality assurance. These qualified professionals are dedicated to making sure that parts are manufactured to the highest quality standards. With different types of measuring and testing equipment, this department ensures all equipment is calibrated and traceable to ISO 17025 and National Institute of Standards and Technology standards. L. & M. has been ISO 9001-registered since 1997.
• Shipping. This department makes use of controlled processes to ensure timely delivery. This includes single-release orders and managing inventories for stock-and-release programs. From storage to packing and delivery, their focus is to achieve 100 per cent on-time delivery and to comply with every relevant schedule and customer demand.
