They say size does not always matter, but for a top custom machining shop, it certainly helps. For nearly six decades, L. & M. Precision Products Inc. has grown substantially in size and stature to become Canada’s largest screw-machine jobbing shop. The company has found that its progressive size increase offers distinct advantages.
This ever-expanding floor space and equipment inventory has served L. & M. Precision Products well since its was first established in 1962.
More equipment and storage space
Back then, L. & M. ran out of a 2,000-square-foot building. Fifteen years later, the company’s success had necessitated a move to a bigger facility of 17,000 square feet. Another 10,000 square feet were added when L. & M. took over part of an adjacent building in 1994 – and six years later, the company added 37,000 more square feet to its production facilities. Today, L. & M. owns 64,000 square feet of production space in west Toronto.
This facility houses more than 70 workers and more than 70 first-operation screw machines. There is also a large secondary-operations area, plus efficient quality-control and shipping departments. This unmatched capacity allows L. & M. to handle a broad range of customers and applications in all industries, as its large employee base holds a diverse spectrum of expertise and can always accommodate new projects. With ample experience, the company’s engineering and production staff ensure the most efficient processes each time. L. & M. does not have to limit its scope to specific sectors or products.
Another benefit of running such a large custom machining shop: extra storage. The company buys materials and tooling in large volumes to keep its pricing competitive, with plentiful room in which to store it. L. & M. also has a unique stock-and-release program that allows clients to order in large quantities and then store and release the products at the plant as they are required.
Sometimes, bigger really is better. For the best custom precision-machined components, L. & M. has everything the customer needs and more.
