From design to approval

The L. & M. product-design process consists of three critical steps, which it uses for all of its custom products, including components for welding, assemblies, connectors, fittings, fasteners, bushings, washers, spacers, threaded parts, and others that service all sectors, including the oilfields, welding, the automotive industry, aerospace, healthcare, and so many more. These steps go as follows:

1. Initial design. The client provides an initial design and requests a quote about a new custom product. Annual volume of the product is estimated too.
2. Design and estimate. L. & M.’s engineering and estimating departments review the design and provide any necessary feedback, particularly any enhancements that could improve the product’s effectiveness or cost-efficiency. The estimating team also quotes the required lead time and pricing, while identifying whether any changes have been applied to the client’s original design and if it needs additional specifications or revisions. The customer always gets full approval of the revised drawings.
3. First article approval. The staff follow a first article approval process on all new production setups. If the customer requests it, they can provide a sample part for confirmation before the full production run.
