Double isolator by JM Concept

Durham Instruments recently began supplying solutions by JM Concept, including the EOLIS 0030A2 series of double isolators. These are analog converters, each with an input of 0…4… 20mA with a sensor power supply and the same level of current output, and they are available in two ranges. The standard EOLIS 0030A2 model and the EOLIS 0030A2-F model have the same input and output, but the latter offers lightning shock protection.

Less cabling time, more reliability

Both these devices are designed specifically to be used as interfaces for isolation and signal conditioning between sensors and PLCs, or between PLCs and actuators. They are versatile double isolators that work in many industries; Durham Instruments recommends them for use in general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food processing, pharmaceuticals, forestry, the medical field, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.

JM Concept has developed pre-wired plates – BASELINE (screw- or spring-loaded) – in order to facilitate wiring, commissioning, operation and maintenance with the EOLIS 0030A2 series. BASELINE also has SUBD connections to connect directly to the PLCs through conductor cables. This solution not only makes implementation simpler; it also reduces cabling time while boosting system reliability. These double isolators are guaranteed for five years of operation.

Other technical specifications for these innovative double isolators:

  • Factory settings: Input and output both 4-20mA for Channels 1 and 2; other settings on demand.
  • Current input impedance: 4¾ ohms.
  • Precision class: 0.1.
  • Response time: Less than three milliseconds.
  • Thermal drift: Less than 50 parts per million.
  • Maximum of consumption: Less than seven volt-amperes.
  • Operating temperature: Minus ten to 60 degrees Celsius.
  • Storage temperature: Minus 25 to 80 degrees Celsius.
  • Protection factor: IP20 black self-extinguishing polyamide housing V0.

To set the outputs, connect a current generator to the input terminals, then connect a current multimeter to the output terminals. Next, use the generator to inject the signal corresponding to the low value of the input signal. Use the OFFSET potentiometer to adjust the output’s low scale and the generator to inject the signal corresponding to the input signal’s high value.
