The LINE series of data concentrators
Durham Instruments recently began supplying test and measurement devices by JM Concept. Among these products is the LINE series of data concentrators. Each of these units is part of an interfacing system designed to decentralize the analog inputs and outputs and send the information back through fieldbus. This principle is based on JM Concept’s own analog signal processing and isolation technology, and the system is fully modular and scalable.
Capable of interfacing 24 slaves
The LINE series of data-to-bus concentrators consists of versatile high-isolation units that work for applications in many industries. Durham Instruments deems them suitable for use in the general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food-processing, forestry, medical, military, mining, packaging, power-generation, alternative-energy, and transportation sectors, as well as research and development.
The inputs can be process inputs, in addition to electrical quantities, temperature (PT100, thermocouple, output of other sensors), or even digital inputs; there are no limitations. Each device in the LINE series is hot pluggable, and the user can add any kind of module at any time, with no limit at all. The individual units have the ability to interface as many as 24 slaves – i.e., one to 96 measurement channels – depending on the concentrator itself.
All measurements are transferred to a concentrator, and there is a concentrator model adapted to every type of fieldbus. If the PLC evolves and the fieldbus is different, the user merely has to change the concentrator and all of the acquisition, while its isolation stays the same. Each of JM Concept’s connection bases also has an internal communication bus that manages the communication between the concentrator and its slaves in the back place, and this means that the fieldbus does not slow down.
JM Concept manufactures five models in the LINE series:
