One of the JM Concept TELIS 1000 series

Durham Instruments recently joined forces with JM Concept to supply the latter’s test and measurement instrumentation to Canadian businesses. An innovative option from the manufacturer is the TELIS 1000 series of bridge input modules, available in two models. Each unit is a converter with quadruple galvanic isolation, dedicated to measuring strain gauges. It is coupled with a sensor power supply, a digital input, one or two analog outputs, up to two relays, and an RS485 communication port Modbus RTU.

Guaranteed for five years

Both models in these series, the TELIS 1000U1 and TELIS 1200U1, are converters from the TELIS range dedicated to measurements with a gauge bridge. Guaranteed for five years of effective performance, both TELIS 1000 instruments have one analog each, and the 1200U1 has two relays. Both measure 81 millimetres (mm) in height and 98 mm in depth, while the 1000U1 has a case width of 22½ mm and the 1200U1 has a case width of 45 mm. Clients must order BASELINE boards separately and can consult with JM Concept for multi-converter boards.

Among the other specifications of these devices:

  • Communication speed – 9,600 bauds
  • Display colour – blue
  • Display type – LCD backlit
  • Input – plus or minus 300 millivolts, display from zero to 100
  • Other display characteristics – five characters, five lines, programming joystick with five positions
  • Output – 4-20 mA, display from zero to 100
  • Permissible impedance on current output – less than 300 ohms
  • Permissible impedance on voltage output – less than 700 ohms
  • Relay alarm – high
  • Relay threshold – 50
  • Slave address – n˚ 1
  • Voltage input impedance – 50 ohms

With the programming joystick, the parameters displayed on the front panel screen can be configured, and a programming lock allows locking on the front panel or by the IXLOG software, with unlocking by a long press on the joystick. Users can customize the display resolution, contrast, and more.

These isolators are appropriate for applications in many different industries. Durham Instruments recommends it for use in the general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food-processing, forestry, medical, military, mining, packaging, power-generation, alternative-energy, and transportation sectors and also in research and development.
