The patented horizontal cyclone by Jacob

Firing Industries Ltd. supplies great processing solutions, including tubing by Jacob. One of the more innovative products available is the patented horizontal cyclone, designed to fit into almost every tubing system and easy to integrate with straight tubes. While this makes the unit ideal for retrofitting a cyclone, it is also recommended for new performance systems, in which it dependably cleans the airflow of particles and sparks.

Separating large-volume and low-density particles

Among the advantages of the horizontal cyclone: its elongated form enables simple integration with straight pipes; the modular design makes lighter work of replacing worn parts; it does not need its own power supply, as a passive component; and it has proven Jacob quality, with perfect compatibility with any Jacob modular system. The user can integrate this cyclone into a system as a pre-filter, to clean the air of dust particles and therefore extend the lifespans of filter systems. It can also separate large-volume, low-density particles, especially in medical applications.

Horizontal cyclones blend reliable airflow cleaning with simple assembly. The horizontal orientation simplifies integration into existing tubing systems with no need for extra modification. The intelligent design makes fast replacement of worn components easier. These tubing units are perfect complements to Jacob’s range of vertical cyclones, as they are used mainly as pre-separators for filter systems or as separators for low-density particles, particularly in plastics.

Each unit has a simple basic principle. The impeller sets the airflow in a rotating motion, accelerated by constriction. Centrifugal forces drive the particles outwards, and the particles decelerate at the inner wall and get extracted through the discharge. The clean airflow passes through the dip tube into the downstream tubing system.

These cyclones are available from Firing Industries in connection diameters from 80 to 800 millimetres, for a volumetric flow of 360 to 26,200 cubic metres per hour at an air velocity of 20 metres per second. Watch this video for a closer look:
