Dobco supplies the KK5B series of air motors by IR.

Ingersoll Rand (IR) has logged more than 150 years of world-class industrial tools, and Dobco Equipment serves Canadian businesses with these products. Among these solutions are more than 200 models of ARO air motors, including the KK5B series of piston air motors, for winch and hoist-type applications.

All of IR’s ARO air motors serve workers best as a flexible alternative to electrical power sources.

With a radial piston design

ARO air motors stand out from their electric equivalents with their ability to create power from the natural environment. They are efficient machines with many important benefits, and Dobco’s inventory gives customers an extensive range of options. With such a diverse variety, ARO air motors are suitable for many applications.

Advantages include infinitely variable speeds and torques and instant starting, stopping, and reversing. Users can stall or overload them for long periods with no damage; as a result, the motors never overheat or burn out. Among the other benefits are cool running characteristics and high design flexibility, and they can be operated safely in hazardous environments because of the lack of heat buildup and sparks.

The KK5B series consists of direct-drive piston air motors, each one with a radial piston design that enables use in winch and hoist-type applications. These are durable motors that can function under difficult work conditions, and they can work at variable speeds and torques. IR offers them with both flange and foot mounting options. The series comprises two models, the KK5B546 and KK5B550, both of which are reversible. Each one weighs 113.9 kilograms and measures 42.29 by 45.12 centimetres.

The KK5B546 model of piston air motors offers a maximum power of 21.6 kilowatts, torque stall of 300 foot-pounds, free speed of 1,800 revolutions per minute (RPM), starting torque of 248 newton metres, and air consumption of 22½ cubic metres per meter at maximum power. The KK5B550 has maximum power of 22.3 kilowatts, torque stall of 325 foot-pounds, free speed of 1,750 RPM, starting torque of 274 newton metres, and air consumption of 24.1 cubic metres per meter at maximum power.
