The Interface WMC Miniature Sealed Stainless Steel Load Cell, available from Durham Instruments

Among the many great measurement and control instruments that Durham Instruments supplies in Canada is Interface Advanced Force Measurement’s very diverse line of miniature load cells and force transducers. This includes the Interface WMC Miniature Sealed Stainless Steel Load Cell, the manufacturer’s smallest tension and compression load cell.

Available in capacities from 1,000 to 10,000 pounds of force, as well as in metric units, the WMC from Interface is a highly accurate stainless steel load cell and a boon to applications in several different sectors.

An environmentally sealed load cell

The WMC Miniature Sealed Stainless Steel Load Cell is a small, environmentally sealed measuring instrument with tension and compression, plus proprietary Interface temperature compensated strain gauges. Its standard configuration is 1.5-metre integral cable, with extra cable length and instrumentation accessories also available.

This miniature load cell comes in four different sizes with six levels of capacities – 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, 5,000, 7,500, or 10,000 pounds of force, or a range from 4,500 to 45,000 Newtons – and with dimensions ranging from 33.5 by 38.1 millimetres to 73.2 by 47.6 millimetres. Weight goes from 59 to 226.8 grams. Other specifications include the following:

  • Nonlinearity of plus or minus 0.2 per cent FS;
  • Hysteresis of plus or minus 0.2 per cent FS;
  • Nonrepeatability of plus or minus 0.05 per cent RO;
  • Creep of plus or minus 0.05 per cent over 20 minutes;
  • Operating temperature range from -54 to 121 degrees Celsius;
  • Compensated temperature range from -10 to 45 degrees Celsius;
  • Nominal rated output of two mV/V;
  • Zero balance of plus or minus two per cent RO;
  • Bridge resistance of 350 ohms (nominal);
  • Maximum excitation voltage of 15 VDC;
  • Insulation resistance of more than 5,000 megohms;
  • T & C calibration; and
  • Safe overload of 150 per cent CAP.

Durham Instruments recommends this stainless steel load cell for use in several major industries, including general manufacturing, aerospace, automation and controls, food processing, education, packaging, and research and development. Many other Interface load cells are available.
