The Model WTS 1200 Standard Precision low-profile wireless load cell by Interface

Customers in Canada have access to test and measurement solutions by Interface Force Measurement, thanks to Durham Instruments. A key example: the Model WTS 1200 Standard Precision low-profile wireless load cell. Short for Wireless Telemetry System, WTS denotes a family of wireless Interface units that collect data at remote or inaccessible points.

The WTS 1200 is designed specifically for general-purpose applications in which load cells have to be compensated for eccentric loads.

Extra bridges and overload protection

This low-profile wireless load cell can transmit information at distances as far as 610 metres to receiving equipment for monitoring or at many different base stations, including a handheld display and a USB version. Among the many great features and advantages of the WTS 1200:

  • capacities from 1½ to 450 kilonewtons, with higher levels available on request;
  • proprietary Interface temperature-compensated strain gauges;
  • performance to 0.0425 per cent;
  • four-gigahertz transceiver;
  • low deflection;
  • barometric compensation;
  • tension and compression; and
  • compact size.

Interface offers other options for the WTS 1200, such as a base (which is recommended), standardized output, custom calibration, multiple bridge, special threads, and a dual diaphragm. Also available are options for second and third bridge and for overload protection. The load cell is fully compatible with the manufacturer’s Model WTS-BS-1-HA wireless handheld display for multiple transmitters. Variations available from Interface include Models WTS 1210, 1220, and 1232.

This low-profile wireless load cell is built out of heat-treated steel or stainless steel, with a telemetry housing of polyamide resin. Users can operate it in temperatures ranging from -20 to 55 degrees Celsius. It has a transmit power of ten megawatts, internal resolution of 16 million per 24 bits, transmission rates from five milliseconds to 24 hours, and a standard battery life of 300 hours.

A highly versatile device, the WTS 1200 works well for applications in a wide range of industries. Durham Instruments recommends it for use in a variety of sectors, like general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food processing, forestry, education, the medical field, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.
