The efficiency of inverters, motors and entire drive trains hinges on the ability to simultaneously, continuously and dynamically acquire mechanical and electrical parameters from these units. This is possible — and simple — thanks to HBM’s all-in-one eDrive testing solution, designed to optimize electric drive testing.

An all-in-one solution

The standard method using different measuring instruments to test drives is time consuming and prone to errors. HBM’s all-in-one testing solution, on the other hand, offers synchronous acquisition of all data, including dynamic load cycles, starting currents, control behaviour, emergency shutdowns and more, allowing users to better understand their inverters and electric motors.

The testing system features the GEN3i data recorder, which provides maximum sampling rates and continuous direct-to-disk storage of 200 MB/sec, and it can easily be configured to meet the user’s needs thanks to its modular platform. Its ability to continuously record all raw data allows for a detailed analysis of inverter and electric motor.

Another major feature of the solution is the T40B torque transducer, which enables digital measurement, eliminating analog errors. Award-winning software, which incorporates an application-oriented user interface, is also included.

The result is a system that can perform highly dynamic and precise tests on inverters and electric motors, providing more efficient conversion and regenerative braking. The all-in-one system offers perfectly matched components from a single source, covering electrical signals up to 1,000 volts, as well as mechanical signals and temperatures. Continuous measurement is possible for up to an hour, while a maximum of two million measurements per second per channel is also feasible.

Available in Canada

The new HBM testing system is available from Durham Instruments, a Pickering, Ont.-based supplier of measuring instruments. Durham Instruments carries a wide selection of products from HBM and many other top manufacturers.
