Innovative process equipment supplier looking for application specialist

Firing Industries is growing. The leading Canadian supplier of process equipment is looking for a full-time application specialist to help it keep up with increasing demand. The company, based in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., is known for its comprehensive portfolio of technically complex process machinery and equipment, and the professional, consultative, problem-solving approach it takes to meet customer needs.

Position details

An application specialist is the key point of contact between Firing Industries and its clients. This person must possess superior equipment knowledge to sell application systems, answer queries, create proposals, offer advice and introduce new product solutions.

The work involved includes:

• organizing sales visits;
• demonstrating/presenting products;
• establishing new business;
• maintaining accurate records;
• attending trade exhibitions, conferences and meetings;
• reviewing sales performance; and
• negotiating contracts.

There is room for growth in this position. Application specialists have the opportunity to progress into senior sales roles or related employment areas such as marketing or management.

Qualifications and training required

The successful candidate must have an MBA in engineering, a Bachelor's degree (or similar college credentials), or five-plus years of related experience. A combination of education and experience will also be considered. Previous work in the industrial machinery sector is an asset, as is any relevant experience gained in any commercial area involving contact with customers or the general public.

In addition to these qualifications, the successful candidate must have a full driver’s licence and possess the key qualities required for a position as a sales product application specialist. He or she must be mature, confident, driven and patient, and have excellent interpersonal skills. IT and numerical skills are also an asset, as is the ability to speak more than one language fluently.
