Test and measurement devices by Interface Force Measurement are available in Canada from Durham Instruments. The lineup includes the Model WTS 1200 Standard Precision LowProfile industrial wireless load cell. WTS is short for Wireless Telemetry System, denoting a line of wireless Interface products that collect information at remote or inaccessible points and transmit the data to receiving equipment for monitoring. The WTS 1200 is intended for use in general-purpose applications in which load cells must be compensated for eccentric loads.

Compact size and low deflection

This is a highly versatile industrial wireless load cell that works in a variety of industries. Durham Instruments has deemed it suitable for use in general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food processing, forestry, education, the medical field, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.

The Model WTS 1200 is capable of transmitting data at distances of up to 610 metres to many different base stations, including a USB version and a handheld display. This unique instrument comes with many great features and benefits: capacities ranging from 1.5 to 450 kilonewtons, with higher levels also available; proprietary Interface temperature-compensated strain gauges; performance to 0.0425 per cent; four-gigahertz transceiver; low deflection; barometric compensation; tension and compression; and a compact size.

Options available for this industrial wireless load cell include the following:

• Base (recommended);
• Standardized output;
• Custom calibration;
• Multiple bridge;
• Special threads; and
• Dual diaphragm.

In addition, Interface can offer options for second and third bridge and for overload protection. The load cell is fully compatible with the manufacturer’s Model WTS-BS-1-HA wireless handheld display for multiple transmitters. Among the variations available are Models WTS 1210, 1220, and 1232.

The Model WTS 1200 is constructed out of heat-treated steel or stainless steel, with a telemetry housing of polyamide resin, and it can operate in temperatures from -20 to 55 degrees Celsius. It has a transmit power of ten megawatts, internal resolution of 16 million per 24 bits; transmission rates from five milliseconds to one day; and standard battery life of 300 hours.
