industrial valve terminal

Festo’s new VTSA-IO Link valve terminal meets the need of the North American automotive sector for a powerful yet flexible valve terminal with IO-Link connectivity on board. It provides power plus low-cost bi-directional connectivity between the control system and field level devices.

Festo Canada continues to meet market needs with new products like the VTSA IO-Link industrial valve terminal. Designed to appeal to automotive manufacturers in particular, this product adds the IO-Link connectivity they want to a proven, powerful valve terminal – a workhorse in the Festo valve terminal lineup. The VTSA IO-Link has already become a core product for customers who want the performance, diagnostics, and simplicity that IO-Link provides.

Capacity up to 24 coils

A heavy-duty performer in the Festo valve-terminal line, the VTSA series can handle many ISO-style or high-flow valves and use various sizes on the same manifold. This industrial valve terminal offers a capacity of up to 24 coils, and any combination of valve sizes from 18 to 52 millimetres is usable. The VTSA IO-Link offers many of the optional add-ons that other VTSA variants do, such as stackable regulators, an integrated vacuum generator, pilot air-pressure control and monitoring, and a safety exhaust and soft stop valve for fast exhaust and slow pressure buildup with spool monitoring for additional safety. Operators can use the interface in combination with the inexpensive Festo CTEU network adapter to create a flexible fieldbus network with such protocols as EtherNet IP, PROFINET, and EtherCAT.

The VTSA IO-Link is ideal for the automotive, food-processing, and packaging sectors, in which many companies want a large flow capacity instead of more compact manifolds with limited flows. Automotive production requires quick cycle times and a manifold that offers high flow, due to the big clamps or long stroke cylinders with large bore diameters. Customers in this industry also want manifolds with OI-Link on board, which enables low-cost, point-to-point, and bi-directional connectivity between the control system and field level devices. Another key benefit of this industrial valve terminal is safe, fast installation and commissioning with standard, unscreened wiring instead of complex, costly cables.

To provide connectivity on the VTSA multi-pin terminal, Festo has adapted the standard IO-Link connector module used with the VTUG terminal series. The VTSA IO-Link manifolds are available assembled, as is a separate IO-Link connector package for onsite assembly.
