The Type 2270-S two-channel handheld analyzer by Brüel & Kjӕr

Durham Instruments carries many measurement solutions by Brüel & Kjӕr – including the Type 2270-S two-channel handheld analyzer. This is a compact, rugged, Class 1 industrial sound-level meter that fulfills all the functions of Type 2250-S and 2250-W devices, but with two independent channels. This way, users measure with two microphones or two accelerometers simultaneously, or one of each, potentially cutting measurement time in two.

Broad range of use scenarios

The added specialized applications of the Type 2270-S mean that users can expand its functionality to meet virtually any task requirement for assessing noise or vibration. Examples include specialized applications for building acoustics, FFT analysis, tone assessment, noise source identification, sound intensity, industrial applications, and vibration measurement.

This industrial sound-level meter offers a broad range of use scenarios, like the following: general-purpose Class 1 sound measurement, according to current international standards; multipoint measurement; occupational health and safety noise assessment; environmental noise assessment and logging; product development and quality control; sound and vibration FFT analysis; building loudness and noise-rating measurement; tone assessment, with 1/3-octave and FFT methods; and infrasound (G-weighing) measurement.

The Type 2270-S two-channel industrial sound-level meter is versatile enough to be used as a basic vibration meter, as well as a sound-level meter, with the addition of at least one appropriate accelerometer. The instrument becomes an advanced vibration meter when the user adds Enhanced Vibration and Low Frequency Option BZ-7234 and the appropriate accelerometers. By blending the instrument with certain applications and accessories, users get all the capabilities of a vibration meter, including quality testing and inspection, machinery analysis and troubleshooting, building vibration measurement, low-frequency building vibration measurement (according to ISO 8041:2005 and DIN standards), and machine health analysis after repair, maintenance, and overhaul.

This well-rounded device is suitable for use in many industries. Durham Instruments recommends it in general manufacturing, aerospace, automation, food processing, forestry, the medical field, the military, mining, packaging, power generation, alternative energy, transportation, and research and development.
