industrial screw conveyors

Continental makes two kinds of screw conveyors.

Continental Conveyor has designed and engineered top conveyor equipment for more than 55 years. Its portfolio includes a complete line of industrial screw conveyors, as well as accessories, for a broad variety of bulk material-handling needs. These are versatile conveyors that move items horizontally, vertically, or on inclines.

Businesses can use these screw conveyors as feeders, distributors, collectors, or mixers, depending on the types they choose.

The two types available

Industrial screw conveyors from Continental come in two main designs. Inclined screw conveyors can be used in the inclined place and provide an economical way to elevate and convey at the same time when there is sufficient space. Users should note that the capacity of the given unit decreases quickly as the inclination angle increases, and increasing the conveyor speed is necessary as the inclination angle rises to prevent material from falling back. Inclined conveyors do not work so well as feeders for accurately measuring material flow; for an accurate flow rate, use a separate horizontal feeder conveyor.

Vertical screw conveyors are a very efficient, effective method of elevating and distributing bulk material. Because they have fewer moving parts, users encounter fewer of the difficulties that other elevating equipment has. These conveyors can convey up to 6,000 cubic feet an hour with a 16-inch-diameter unit to a height of 75 feet, depending on material weight and drive arrangement. They also transfer material efficiently from horizontal to vertical planes.

Vertical screw conveyors have a compact design that enables an easy fit into restricted areas where other kinds of bulk-material-handling equipment would not work. Users can equip them to heat or cool during conveying applications; proper covers and gasketing can make them weatherproof, dust-tight, and rodent-proof. These industrial screw conveyors are easy to install and need little maintenance. Continental designs and builds them according to industry standards, resulting in conveyors that are interchangeable with equipment from other notable manufacturers.

Because some customers are unsure what type of screw conveyors suit their requirements, Continental’s engineers are capable and willing to make specific recommendations based on the individual application.
