industrial frame sensors

Dietz manufactures many kinds of frame sensors.

IBIS Electro-Products Corp. is the source that Canadian businesses turn to for innovative sensing tools manufactured by Dietz Sensortechnik. A popular line of Dietz products is its industrial frame sensors. These photoelectric sensors are equipped with numerous transmitter and receiver diodes that allow users to detect even the smallest objects clearly in the active zone, regardless of the material. Among their many advantages are easy assembly, quick response time, and high resolution.

Ideal for numerous applications

Dietz industrial frame sensors are ideal for numerous applications. Examples include monitoring tiny objects in free fall, detecting small parts conveyed by compressed air, ejection control, protecting tools from damage, separating different-sized objects, yarn break control, measuring object lengths and sizes, and feed control. Each of these photoelectric frame sensors uses an infrared light curtain inside the frame to detect extremely small objects from the diodes, which are on opposite sides of every unit.

A key benefit is higher resolution than that of standard solutions with many individual through-beam sensors. The optical paths cannot affect each other, and the industrial frame sensors are usable in open or ā€œUā€ shapes in limited space because of the removable crossbars. The output signal is always processed reliably, thanks to the integrated sensitivity controls, variable pulse stretching, and high ambient-light immunity due to modulated light.

To adapt to varying practical requirements, Dietz frame sensors work on two alternative operating modes ā€“ dynamic and static. Dynamic mode enables detection of tiny objects that move quickly, which is ideal for ejection control; it also allows the sensor to adapt itself automatically to changing environmental conditions, improving its operational reliability. In static mode, sensors detect slow-moving or inert objects in the frame, which suits congestion control.

Other common features: robust metal housing; material-independent object detection; adjustable pulse stretching; adjustable sensitivity; and removable crossbars. IBIS offers analog models that offer signals proportional to the number of light beams covered, so users can determine the sizes or positions of objects that have entered the detection area.

Sizes go from 20 by 20 millimetres (mm) to 300 by 150 mm.
