Retaining rings are essential components required for many product assemblies. These fasteners are what holds assemblies onto shafts or bores to prevent them from sliding out of position. There’s an endless selection of retaining rings to choose from in various sizes; however, manufacturers and designers should select a retaining ring that allows for greater design freedom and more efficient product assembly.

Spirolox retaining rings fit the bill, offering many benefits, including:

  • Versatility: These spiral-wound retaining rings are designed to retain a variety of components or parts of assemblies in a diverse range of applications — from toys to aircraft.
  • Flexibility: The unique design of Spirolox spiral rings provides a strong, yet flexible, 360-degree retaining surface. This allows for greater freedom of design.
  • Quality: The rings are fabricated from high-quality, rectangular carbon spring steel or 302 stainless steel coiled on edge, which gives them exceptional strength and stability.
  • Savings: They are easier to install and up to 75 per cent less expensive than stamped retaining rings. Their unique design means fewer parts are required, which eliminates excess machining such as counterboring, threading, drilling and other complicated and costly processes. Because no special tools are required to install or remove Spirolox retaining rings, components can be assembled quickly by manual or semi-automatic methods.

The rings are available in sizes from 3/8 to 85 inches in diameter. They come in light duty, medium duty, medium heavy duty and heavy duty models.

Spirolox retaining rings are available from Daemar. With four locations across North America, including Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton and Atlanta, Ga., the company is well positioned to source and deliver millions of essential components to the manufacturing and MRO marketplace.
