eyebolt safety

Ken Forging is a renowned source of industrial eyebolts.

As a leading manufacturer of drop-forged industrial hardware, Ken Forging is a team of industry experts in safe application of these products. We back up our expertise with nearly half a century of experience, producing hardware at our 450,000-square-foot facility in Jefferson, OH. One of our priorities is eyebolt safety. We take great pride in our work and great care in ensuring that eyebolts are safe – and that customers use them safely.

Manufactured according to high standards

At Ken Forging, we manufacture eyebolts according to the highest quality and safety standards. That includes compliance with ASME B18.15 and testing products according to ASTM A489 specifications. In addition, we highlight critical precautions for eyebolt safety on our website and in our services.

Ken Forging’s top eyebolt safety measures include the following:

  • Always ensure a safe distance from the load. Never work, stand, or crawl around an eyebolt load.
  • Tighten eyebolts with one’s hand. Do not use wrenches, crowbars, or other tools.
  • Do not use a single eyebolt to lift a load that can rotate. Use safety swivel hoist rings for these loads.
  • Never force hooks or any other fittings into an eyebolt’s eye. Fittings should always fit easily.
  • Do not exceed the rated capacity. The minimum threaded shank length of the eyebolts must always be one thread diameter, to attain the rated capacity.
  • Never shock-load eyebolts. The proper method is to increase lifting of a load gradually, to minimize load shock.
  • Do not weld eyebolts or perform any weld repairs on them.
  • Never machine eyebolts on the shank or shoulder to achieve proper seating.
  • Do not expose eyebolts to extreme environmental conditions. Extreme weather or other conditions can negatively affect an eyebolt’s rated capacity.

Eyebolts make up just one of the great products we offer at Ken Forging. Our portfolio includes nut eyebolts, pad eyes, turnbuckles, rod ends, safety swivel hoist rings, eye nuts, machine shop tools, C-clamps, and more – all manufactured with safety in mind.
