The TCP compact 40-mm dual laser sensor

Dietz Sensortecknik manufactures world-class technological solutions available through IBIS Electro-Products Corp. The lineup includes four types of Tool Centre Point (TCP) dual laser sensors. Each sensor assembly has two extremely accurate precision reference laser beams for multi-axis robot fixture, tip, and tooling calibration.

Designed for optimizing robot performance and repeatability, these TCP sensors work by passing the robot tip through each laser beam in mere seconds – with a response time of less than 0.4 milliseconds.

Compatible with all robot brands

Dietz’ TCP dual laser sensors suit a broad range of applications, such as the following: accurate multi-axis precision reference for calibrating robotic tools, apparatuses, and fixtures; fixture, gripper, or tip calibration; machining, drilling, grinding, and milling; automated assembly, gluing, painting, and folding; laser cutting; arc, tig, stud, or spot welding; and food processing.

The four models available from IBIS are 40 millimetres (mm), 70 mm, 110 mm, and 110 mm with M12 connector. The compact design of these sensors enables fast, easy integration into new and existing systems. They are compatible with all robot brands, including ABB, Kuka, Fanuc, Universal, Nachi, Motoman, Panasonic, Yaskawa, Kawasaki, Epson, Staubli, Comau, Adept, Franka, and Kossow.

Features common to all four models of these dual laser sensors:

  • Laser Class II with adjustable sensitivity;
  • Dual output of PNP and NO;
  • IP67 sealing level in a robust metal housing and mounting frame;
  • Ability to detect objects of 0.1 mm in diameter;
  • Maximum current output of 200 mA per output channel;
  • Ambient light immunity of 50 k lux;
  • Supply voltage from ten to 35 VDC;
  • Power consumption under 80 mA; and
  • Protection against short circuit and polarity.

The 40- and 70-mm models have diagonal compact laser beams for precise X and Y detection and an operating temperature range of zero to 45 degrees Celsius; they also come in a sturdy anodized aluminum housing of 90 by 90 mm. The 110-mm models have orthogonal x- and y-axis beams and work in temperatures from two to 45 degrees Celsius, while measuring 150 by 200 mm.
