The SBC slider bed curve conveyor by Hytrol

Norpak Handling supplies top material-handling innovations in Canada by being an authorized Hytrol Integration Partner. Hytrol recently introduced its slider bed curve conveyor, or SBC, which offers a new level of efficiency and versatility to warehouses and plants. The SBC can handle a wide variety of products with its unique tapered pulleys, enabling consistent orientation and minimizing slippage. The conveyor’s inimitable design allows it to excel in several challenging material-handling applications.

From bagged items to higher speeds

Among the situations mastered by the SBC slider bed curve conveyor:

  • Bagged items. Some facilities use bags to package many products and loose items, causing them to conform in shape according to the conveyance method. Unequal loading can cause bagged items to become lodged on a live roller conveyor, resulting in inefficiency. The SBC slider bed curve conveyor offers a smooth, uninterrupted journey for bagged products.
  • Items with unusual geometry. Items that do not have standard geometrical shapes – like screws, bolts, sand, or gravel – must travel on belts, as they tend to become lodged between gaps on live rollers. The seamless conveyance of belts avoids this issue.
  • Gappers. A gapper allows for increase in flow rates and accuracy in sortation applications. To accomplish this, gappers operate conveyors at alternate speeds and produce gaps between the items. The SBC conveyor can be located just prior to, or just after, a gapper conveyor to allow a change in line direction as part of the gapping/metering process.
  • Scanners. Scanners play a vital role in the routing of packages and maintaining a comprehensive control system throughout a warehouse. The SBC enables uncompromising support of scanners on slider beds, resulting in consistent readouts.
  • High speeds. The SBC can run at much higher speeds than conventional live roller curves, thus allowing systems to handle increased throughput.

As Hytrol now manufactures the SBC as part of its product line, Norpak Handling can source the belt curve from Hytrol along with the rest of the system, without having to get it from another supplier.

These are just some of the ways that the SBC is an ideal material-handling solution – with many substantial benefits for virtually any production facility or warehouse.
