sorters

Hytrol's 400 series of sorting devices are fast, but also move items carefully.

Conveyors are not the only high-quality product that Hytrol Conveyor Company makes. This manufacturer – whose products are available in Canada from Norpak Handling, a proud Integration Partner with Hytrol – also produces a range of related material-handling equipment, such as sorters. Currently, one of Hytrol’s featured items is its ProSort 400 family of elite sortation devices.

In sortation applications, speed is a very helpful feature, but it is also important that the sorting device diverts items in a positive and gentle way, to avoid damaging them. Hytrol’s ProSort 400 series – consisting of the ProSort 421, 422, 431, and 432 sorters – achieves both speed and gentle diversion.

A quicker, safer option

These four ProSort devices have many similarities, but also important differences. The ProSort 421 and 422 sorters have been designed to sort products at a 22-degree angle in applications that require high speed, but in which close divert centres are not so critical. ProSort 431 and 432, on the other hand, are built to sort products at a 30-degree angle in applications that do require close divert centres.

Each of these four devices operate by transporting products on anodized aluminum slats, and at a predetermined spot, divert shoes move diagonally across the conveyor to move the product into a takeaway line. Five widths are available for all of these designs, as are right- or left-hand diverts.

The ProSort 421 and 431 Elite sorters have conveying speed determined by application requirements, while the ProSort 422 and 432 is available with dual diverts in addition to the left and right ones. Common features to all four of these devices include:

  • intermediate, tail, and drive/catenary bed;
  • carrying chain;
  • chain lubricator;
  • switch assembly;
  • high-speed, 24-volt, DC single solenoid four-way air valve;
  • air filter;
  • air-pressure switch;
  • variable speed controller; and
  • maximum 50-pound load capacity.

Optional equipment for these sorters from Norpak includes adjustable MHS-type floor supports with knee braces, flight tubes, and a ProSort Logix control package. Guard rails are also available for ProSort 421 and 431.
