sortation devices

Norpak Handling carries Hytrol's recently upgraded ProSort sortation devices.

Hytrol Conveyor Company is a major producer of conveyors and related items. The company’s products are available in Canada from Norpak Handling, a proud Integration Partner with Hytrol. The manufacturer does not limit itself to conveyors; Hytrol is also a prolific maker of first-rate sortation devices – such as its versatile ProSort line.

Hytrol has recently upgraded its ProSort 121, 122, 131, and 132 high-speed sortation devices with new features, making them better than ever.

Positive and gentle product diversion

These four ProSort products have been designed for high-speed applications in which product diversion needs to be positive and gentle. They transport items on anodized aluminum slats where divert shoes move diagonally across conveyors at predetermined locations, to move the items onto takeaway lines. ProSort 121 and 122 are built to sort products at a 22-degree angle when high speed is required and close divert centres are not critical, while ProSort 131 and 132 sort items at a 30-degree angle when close divert centres are necessary.

Notable features include high sortation rates and the ability to sort small, fragile products; four different widths, right- or left-hand diverts, and adjustable MHS-type floor supports are available. Dual diverts are also available for ProSort 122 and 132. Another difference is that while all of these devices have shaft mounted gear motors with horsepower based on speed and length requirements, ProSort 121 and 131 has the motor mounted on the discharge end on the opposite side from the diverts; ProSort 122 and 132 require catenary intermediate sections or minimum-length drives used with gear motors.

Optional equipment for these devices from Norpak include takeaway lines with gravity spurs and ProSort Logix control packages that provide complete controls for proper sorter operation. Optional guard rails are also available for ProSort 121 and 131 – 6½-inch solid side guards for the shoe side.

All four of these types of sorters come in four different sizes, ranging from 15 to 33 inches in conveying-surface width, 27 to 45 inches in overall width, and 18 to 36 inches in both induction-bed width and spur width.
