The Hytrol Model TH Trash Belt conveyor, available from Norpak

Manufacturing facilities use conveyors to transport many different types of products and other items. But what happens to waste products that result from daily operations, such as paper trash and empty cardboard boxes? A conveyor system is also very useful for moving recyclables and waste, saving precious man hours for workers.

Enter Norpak Handling, a top Canadian provider of conveyor solutions and components, which is also a proud Integration Partner with Hytrol Conveyor Company in the United States. One of the Hytrol products that Norpak distributes, the Model TH Trash Belt conveyor, is unique for its designated purpose of handling paper trash and cardboard.

Optional connecting equipment available

The Model TH is designed specifically to transport paper waste, empty cardboard containers, and similar items. Its features include a centre drive standard, a steel slider bed bolted between two steel side channels with 15-centimetre high guards, an energy-efficient motor capable of between one and two horsepower, and adjustable floor supports. The belt widths range from 29 to 134 centimetres, and the conveyor is capable of carrying loads of up to 4.5 kilograms per linear foot of the conveyor.

The optional, MS-type floor supports have a wide range of adjustment with holes in the feet for lagging to the floor. Other options available for this conveyor include:

  • Noseover – a fixed nose for transitioning items from an inclined belt to a horizontal one.
  • Two-pulley hitch – to transition items from a horizontal belt to an inclined one.
  • Extra side guards – vertical guards available from 30 to 60 centimetres high, or flared guards from 15 to 30 centimetres.
  • Variable belt speed
  • End drive – side-mounted drive with underside takeup.
  • Manual or pneumatic underside takeup
  • O-ring drive chain – sealed in lubricant, for applications without regular lubrication.
  • Poly-tier supports – support heights from 91 centimetres to three metres, in 15-centimetre increments, with knee braces also supplied.
  • Ceiling hangers – fully threaded, unplated rods, 2.4 metres long with 1.5-centimetre diameter.
  • Electrical controls – including manual start switch, non-reversing starters, push-button stations, and AC variable frequency drive.
