Wilden pumps are available from John Brooks Company.

John Brooks Company Limited offers evidence of longtime success with its history of customer success stories. Many businesses have benefited from its inventory of fluid-control solutions. For example, one customer needed a new option for pumping potato starch into a filter press, as the air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps it was using had proved inadequate. With Wilden Chem-Fuse integral piston diaphragms (IPDs), John Brooks Company helped the customer boost up-time, lower service and maintenance expenses, and achieve energy savings.

Safe, clean, reliable product transfer

The customer was working with potato starch that was abrasive, making it hard on the AODD pumps and resulting in constant pump failure. So the company was always replacing pumps and pump parts, including diaphragms and shafts. The downtime and replacement costs were expensive. A new solution was required.

The company got in touch with Carlos Barbosa, an application expert with John Brooks Company, who met with the customer to discuss an alternative option. Barbosa brought some samples of Wilden diaphragms and suggested various material options. In the end, the customer decided to go with the Chem-Fuse IPDs.

With a smooth, contoured shape and no outer piston, each of these pumps has a one-piece design that offers a safe, clean, and reliable product transfer with no product-entrapment areas between the outer piston and diaphragm, which minimizes risk liabilities and product contamination. Wilden Chem-Fuse IPDs offer higher flow rates and quicker installation, all without compromising the performance.

With high durability and flex life, Chem-Fuse IPDs are compatible with existing shafts and supporting hardware. They are perfect for general industrial and chemical applications and built from Wil-Flex material. The integral piston and full-stroke shaft offer high efficiency and enable double the suction lift and flow of other diaphragms. The design makes the diaphragms easy to clean for quick product changeover.
