The HMD130 ultra-low-profile magnetic drill

Hougen Manufacturing is notable for having invented the portable magnetic drill press, and today, its wide variety of innovative power tools is available from Dobco Equipment Ltd. The HMD130 ultra-low-profile magnetic drill, for example, is a right-angle drill that distinguishes itself by blending a light weight with a large capacity.

With this unique design, this Hougen drilling tool is the ideal option for tasks that require a powerful drill in a compact package.

Patented quill feed arbour

The HMD130 drill has a powerful eight-amp, 115-volt motor that cuts through one-inch holes up to 1-3/8 inches in diameter. Its high torque gearing enables long-lasting power, and its patented quill feed arbour allows smooth cutting with little vibration and minimal maintenance. The RotaLoc Plus annular cutters provide a bayonet-style twist lock shank for fast cutter changers, without any additional tools needed for installation and removal. Other major features of these unique magnetic drill from Dobco:

  • Carrying case included;
  • Carrying handle;
  • Feed handle, which easily switches from side to side;
  • Lift-detector safety system;
  • Pilot light for visibility;
  • Positive slug ejection;
  • Ratchet that can substitute foe feed handle;
  • Rear-mounted controls; and
  • Weight of only 10.8 kilograms (kg).

This drill is available with a 25-millimetre (mm) base plate with a dead lift rating of 982 kg and a drill-point breakaway limit of 333 kg. Hougen also makes a 9½-mm plate with a 544-kg dead lift rating and a 227-kg breakaway limit. The HMD130 is perfect for many applications, like general fabrication, truck-frame modification, facility maintenance, and onsite assembly and installation.

The Hougen HMD130 magnetic drill also includes a no-adjustment safety switch that shuts down the drill when it detects lifting of the magnetic base, to ensure that the work environment is safe. The LED indicator monitors this sensor and alerts the user if the switch is not engaged. A two-stage power-on switch stops drill rotation unless the magnet is engaged, while safety circuitry keeps the drill motor off following restoration of power until someone presses the start button.

Trust the HMD130 for fast, efficient, and potent hole-making in small spaces.
