“Hosokawa’s Insights” focuses on new powder-processing technologies for the mineral sector.

Firing Industries’ amazing lineup of powder-processing equipment is available in Canada. This fall, Hosokawa Micron is hosting an in-house workshop about mineral processing for representatives of the mineral sector – including workers, managers, research scientists, and engineers. This workshop will spotlight the latest technologies and global market trends.

“Hosokawa’s Insights to Powder Processing in the Mineral Industry” takes place on Oct. 9 at the Hosokawa Micron headquarters in Summit, NJ.

A tour of the facility

Led by the company’s experts, “Hosokawa’s Insights” will focus on the latest powder-processing technologies for profitable, ultra-fine mineral powders and slurries, as well as current industry trends and new, high-end applications for mineral processing. The workshop also includes an exclusive tour of the Hosokawa Micron test and processing centre.

The Hosokawa Micron team will place emphasis on the following types of minerals:

  • Ground calcium carbonate. New mineral processing methods for the application of ultra-fine powders and slurries in the fineness range of D97 = 2 – 12 micrometres (µm) for the polymer and paint industries, including this mineral for high-end breathable film. Also covers the energy-saving and cost-effective processing of mass products in the range of D97 = 8 – 45 µm.
  • Hard minerals. Dry processing of ultra-fine grades of high-end, ultra-fine powders in the range of D97 = 3.5 µm to 20 µm for high-tech companies. Also processing of specially designed particle-size distributions.
  • Talc. Jet milling and wet grinding technologies for processing ultra-fine, perfect, delaminated talc powders down to the range of D50 = 0.6 µm, with the highest L/D ratio of talc.
  • Graphite. Jet milling and classifier mill technologies for fine grades of natural, synthetic graphite for high-end applications.
  • Flame retardants. A variety of processing technologies for producing ATH- and magnesium-hydroxide-based minerals like brucite and huntite, in the fineness range of D97 = 5 – 45 µm. Due to legislative directives, mineral-based flame retardants are becoming a common substitute foe chemical-based ones.
