This modular unit by Honeywell extends Experion to a form factor that fits into a small facility and offers a built-in Fault Tolerant Ethernet, ModbusTCP, and EtherNet/IP. Safe connection to smart motors, drives, and PLCs is ensured by ISASecure Level 2 certification. The Unit Operations Controller offers a complete set of DCS control features, and users can mount it in standard or custom cabinets in addition to existing ones. The device eliminates hardware and uses optional industry-standard virtualization and cloud technology; it also offers a standalone, fully functioning, class-based batch system with no separate batch server necessary.

With the UOC and Virtual UOC, businesses get consolidated firewall, controller, and Ethernet I/O communications in one module, and the ring I/O topologies help to eliminate switches for field I/O. Users can test and validate configured applications in the cloud or locally in the Virtual UOC, then download them to the physical UOC without reassignment or further testing. The Virtual Unit Operations Controller reduces hardware footprint when a physical controller is unnecessary and offers higher availability leveraging fault-tolerant virtualization technology.
