high temperature tape

Denso recommends the Hotline Tape system for pipelines in high temperatures.

Denso North America is a major supplier of products that offer long-term protection from corrosion, especially for pipelines, and even in extreme temperatures. The company makes the Denso Hotline Tape system, which includes a special high temperature tape, as well as Denso Paste HT and Densyl Mastic for assistance.

Perfect for pipework that is above or below ground, under pipe insulation, or lain in concrete, the Hotline Tape system by Denso keeps pipelines protected in high temperatures for years.

Backed with high-density polyethylene film

This high temperature tape is made of a synthetic fabric impregnated with a mix of high-temp petrolatum, mineral fillers, and thermal extenders. In addition, it is backed with a thin, high-density polyethylene films for extra protection. Hotline Tape can offer corrosion protection for pipes, flanges, valves, and related surfaces, with a surface temperature of up to 110 degrees Celsius for applications above ground, or up to 83 degrees Celsius below ground.

Among the other major features of this high temperature tape from Denso: compliance with NACE RP0375-2006 and CSA Z 245.30; easy application from tropical to arctic temperatures; encapsulation of lead paint; no solvents; ultraviolet resistance; and water, acid, salt, and soil-organics resistance.

To apply this tape system, the first step is to prepare all surfaces by removing all loose scale, rust, and other foreign matter. A high-pressure water wash from 3,000 to 7,000 pounds per square inch or wire brushing to an SP2 surface are acceptable ways. Next, apply a thin later of Denso Paste HT to the prepared surface. The next step: start to wrap the tape spirally with a minimum overlap of 25 millimetres, or with a 55 per cent overlap in highly corrosive conditions.

Press all air pockets out and smooth all the lap seams during the tape-wrapping phase, while making sure that the overlap between tape rolls is enough to provide constant protection wherever rolls must be joined. It is a good idea to use an approved outerwrap in underground applications. Densyl Mastic or Profiling Mastic may be required for valves, flanges, and other irregular surfaces.
