high temperature masking discs

MOCAP supplies high-temperature masking discs and tapes of various sizes.

MOCAP is known across North America for its caps, plugs, and grips. But the manufacturer’s lineup of industrial protective items stretches further than some realize. Also available are various kinds of masking products, like many sizes of high temperature masking discs and tapes – made out of either polyester or polyimide.

With silicone-based adhesives that leave no residue following removal, these tapes and discs resists extremely high temperatures for as long as an hour.

A unique split backing

Sometimes referred to as dots, MOCAP high temperature masking discs are ideal for powder coating and similar applications. The MCD-PE series of polyester discs can handle continuous temperatures of up to 218 degrees Celsius, while the MCD-PI series of polyimide discs can resist temperatures as high as 260 degrees Celsius. The MCD-PI line also protects against short exposure of higher than 371 degrees Celsius. Each disc measuring 3/8 of an inch or more has a unique split backing, which reduces labour time. Polyimide performs just as well as the popular Kapton brand does.

The polyester discs come in 25 different sizes and quantities from 100 to 5,000 per roll, with diameters from 3.2 to 152.4 millimetres (mm). Polyimide discs come in 16 sizes and quantities from 1,000 to 5,000 per roll; diameters run from 4.8 to 44.5 mm. More high temperature masking discs per roll can be provided to reduce inventory, piece price, and time for changing rolls.

MOCAP offers polyester and polyimide tapes for masking larger areas on which dots will not do. The MCT620 line of high-temperature polyester tapes resist temperatures as high as 218 degrees Celsius for one hour and are stocked on wide rolls. MOCAP can cut them to requested specific widths. The MCT800 series of polyimide tapes is recommended for temperatures as high as 260 degrees Celsius; these tapes can also resist short exposures of more than 371 degrees Celsius.

There are 12 sizes of the MCT620 series of polyester tapes available; diameters go from 6.4 to 152.4 mm. MOCAP offers the MCT800 line in 14 sizes, from 4.8 to 152.4 mm.
