Robotic bending is just one of Matritech's great services.

As a major Quebec manufacturer of industrial machine components, Matritech relies on state-of-the-art technology and equipment to produce the best products it can, to satisfy its base of discriminating clients. This dedication to quality and innovation has led the company to invest in robotic machinery: it introduced robotic welding to its many services in 2003 and has not looked back. Today, robotic machinery is a major part of Matritech’s operations.

Robotic bending has been another popular service since 2014, when Matritech acquired a completely robotic bending cell – the first such machine in Canada.

Elimination of human error

Matritech’s high-speed robotic bending cell, a TruBend Cell 7000 from Trumpf, was a valuable addition to the company’s family of versatile CNC standard bending presses, increasing the selection of dimensions, complexities, and metal parts that Matritech could produce. This machine uses two gripping arms to analyze and bend pieces that have been laid flat, before moving them onto an automatic conveyor – all with no human interference. By eliminating the risk of human error, this bending cell ensures repeated precision with perfect synchronization.

While other manufacturers may offer standard CNC bending, Matritech’s robotic bending service has several advantages over these competitors. Not only does the TruBend work more quickly than standard bending cells do, it also takes less time to set up and is capable of producing more complex parts suited to a wider range of applications.

As a result, this machine provides double the output of a standard bending cell. Other features that add to the TruBend’s versatility include an automated tool changer, for handling small batches, and system pallets with a flexible arrangement of drop-in compartments, capable of supplying the machine with as many as 24 different parts.

With assistance from Trumpf, Matritech can offer bending services superior to, and more efficient than, those of anybody else in the country.
