raw materials

MOCAP makes its products from various materials.

MOCAP is trusted by businesses across North America for its unmatched lineup of protective items. Because high quality is a top priority, the company sources only the best raw materials available to make its products and keep them great. Caps, plugs, grips, masking materials: all of them use the best.

To ensure that this selection works for a broad variety of applications, the MOCAP team chooses from a healthy mix of material.

Rubber, plastic, paper, and more

Clients can select any product based on the raw materials that go into it, to comply with specific needs. The company even has a material specification sheet on its website, detailing the hardness, strengths, elongations, and insulation of all of these different options. There are six types of raw materials that MOCAP uses to make its protective products:

  • Flexible vinyl. MOCAP can supply a broad range of caps, plugs, grips, and covers made of flexible vinyl, or PVC. Custom dip-moulded products are also available in any requested colour, hardness, or texture.
  • Paper. The company uses natural paper to make straight caps, tapered plugs, and other similar types of caps/plugs. MOCAP relies on natural paper that is tough yet flexible; it is also recyclable and environmentally sound. This paper can also withstand temperatures of up to 200 degrees Celsius.
  • Plastic. MOCAP makes standard plastic plugs and caps out of low-density polyethylene, or LDPE. Also available are such materials as plastic injection moulding of polypropylene (PP), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), nylon, thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), and almost any thermoplastic resin.
  • Rubber. Rubber caps, plugs, and tubes are usually made out of moulded and extruded silicone and ethylene propylene diene monomer materials. Among the other options available are natural, Nitrile, SBR, and other thermoset rubber materials.
  • Extruded plastic. To make its extruded plastic tubes, MOCAP uses polyethylene terephthalate glycol, which is usually employed for unique product packaging that stands out.
  • Extruded silicone rubber. MOCAP uses high-end silicone compounds to manufacture extruded silicone rubber units. The two primary examples are its silicone tubing and self-bonding silicone X-Treme Tape.
