The company portfolio includes absolute high-efficiency particulate air filters, also known as HEPA filters. This is a kind of mechanical air filter that operates by forcing air through a fine mesh that entraps pollen, pet dander, dust mites, tobacco smoke, and other hazardous particles. N.R. Murphy produces, tests, certifies, and labels these high-efficiency filter media according to current HEPA standards. The filters are more than 99.97 per cent efficient for particles as small as 0.3 microns and approach an efficiency of 99.97 per cent for smaller particles.

The filters work best for the chemical industry and precision-assembly fields. Installation usually requires intermediate or high-efficiency pre-filters upstream of the absolute filter, to keep most dust away and to prolong the absolute filter’s life as much as possible. While they can be used on their own, this reduces their filtering efficiency by approximately 95 per cent with particles measuring 0.3 microns.

This line of high-efficiency filter media is designed to eliminate a diverse array of substances, including dust, fumes, pollen, mould, bacteria, viruses, and oil or tobacco smoke from air. N.R. Murphy offers a variety of sizes for these products, most commonly two square feet and ranging from seven to 12½ inches deep, with airflow capacities from 200 to 2,000 cubic feet per minute. The filters are useful individually or in a series, depending on the airflow capacity. Optional holding frames and side entrance housings are available too, with flanges for easy attachment to ductwork.
